Congratulations to all the students involved in the Beo Rockfest who have made it to the finals in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.   Bridgetown Vocational College is one of six schools to make the finals.

The competition involved students organising, promoting and staging a rock concert.  The student bands who performed at the concert were Hysteria, Element 9, Madhaus, Emmett O’Connor and Austerity.  Two local bands, Point Blank and Emily Furlong also gave a rapturous performance to a delighted crowd.  The event was hugely successful and the proceeds were donated to Console, Wexford.   Students then had to put together a DVD of all their work to submit for the 1st round of judging.

Now that they have qualified for the final, they will have to make the long road trip to Letterkenny, Co. Donegal on Friday 11th May next where they will give a 10 minute presentation to a panel of judges including Paddy McKenna (2FM and also a member of the band Storyfold) and Jackie Hayden (Hotpress). This will be followed by a Questions and Answeres session with the judges.  Some of our school bands, Austerity, Element 9 and Madhaus will be performing in the Open Mic Session on the day as part of the entertainment programme.

We wish all students involved the very best of luck!!
